Close Indian Point Nuke

Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant is owned by Entergy (ETR).

Contrary to what we might know, Indian Point is built on a fault line that could produce a 7.0 quake, and the plant is built to withstand a 6.1 quake.

In my opinion, this is a no brainer. You have an aging Nuclear Plant 25 miles north of New York City, on a fault line, and on the Hudson River. Could the trifecta of utter catastrophe be any more obvious.

CNN: Closing NY nuclear power plant would hike bills 6%
...an extra $65 a year for the typical New York City resident, based on numbers provided by the utility.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo...has reiterated his position in recent days that it should be shut.

The plant is also built on an active fault line.

The facility generates some 2,000 megawatts of electricity, most of which is sold into the New York City area. About 30% of the region's power comes from Indian Point.
