Oil Spill In Michigan

This time it was almost 1,000,000 gallons of oil. This occurred in Michigan under the watch of an oil company called Enbridge Energy Partners LP of Calgary. The oil spilled into the Kalamazoo River and moved in a range of 35 miles. The company allegedly had been warned about oil pipe corrosion.

Are we seeing the beginning of a new trend or are we simply more aware of oil spills because the internet covers a vastly greater range of news.

CS Monitor: Pipeline in Michigan oil spill had been cited for corrosion
"When people think about the Midwest they don’t think about oil spills, but they should...There is a growing network of pipelines just like this one transporting extraordinarily dirty pollutants as they snake their way through multiple states.”
