The flood of better than expected second quarter corporate results has helped to propel the market higher from mid July. Today investors will also be looking at data on home prices and consumer confidence.
At some point soon the market will pull back. It has to happen. But overall the emotion expressed in the articles is positive. We are in one of those short periods of guarded optimism.

The Case-Shiller 20-city home price index is expected to have risen 4% in May after rising 3.8% in April.
After the start of trading, the Conference Board releases the Consumer Confidence index for July.
