Seems everyone forgot the Kitty Genovese incident already? That's the one back in the 60's where something like 75 people in NYC heard her being raped and killed and not one lifted a finger to help her or even call the police to. A whole branch of pop Psychology arose from this one incident and thousands of Profs. pundits and students wrote countless articles, books and experiments trying to solve the mystery of WHY did not ONE of them left a finger. Google this incident if you don't know about it and the answer of why?
I remember that one very well. I was a kid at the time and I understood what was going on. I couldn't believe no one helped. I experienced the same thing when I was screaming my head off for help 2 years ago and nobody helped me. I get the whole group think thing in both directions. We have a way to go as human beings.
