A Tiny Victory

This is a good story.

An upset victory produces a rare moment of unity in Iraq

"... As the Iraqi players wept and danced with joy on a soccer pitch in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, their countrymen rejoiced at perhaps the rarest of Iraqi experiences: a happy ending."

It would be interesting to do a study of the things that actually produce value and positive humanistic qualities in society. I suspect politics and in particular the politics that reflect the Republican Party are extremely low on that study's list of what is beneficial.

The news from Iraq is so utterly bad that we find the tiniest glimmer of hope in this brief elevation of the Iraqi spirit through soccer.

The poignancy is felt intensely.
