Quinoa

In the ever widening search for the best diet and excellent foods, we are starting to eat quinoa, pronounced keen-wa.

Quinoa

"...quinoa is an amino acid-rich (protein) seed that has a fluffy, creamy, slightly crunchy texture and a somewhat nutty flavor when cooked."

"Most commonly considered a grain, quinoa is actually a relative of leafy green vegetables like spinach and Swiss chard."

If you have never eaten quinoa, the description of it as a relative of spinach might be confusing. Its taste and appearance reminds me of couscous which is a very fine tiny pasta. Quinoa is also a complete protein, and this a great benefit because I'm trying to cut out meat completely.

Quinoa is also good for the heart as it is rich in magnesium and riboflavin.

It takes about 15 minutes to cook. It has a very light mild taste.
