The Market On Thursday

Good morning. It is 50 degrees and cloudy here in the Upper Hudson Valley, the forecast predicts a cloudy day with temperatures in the 60s this afternoon. Mercifully, the debates are over. The merciful quality is directly linked to the abominable miserable petulant careless thoughtless vicious quality that Trump has brought to this presidential election cycle. We only have to endure 19 more days of this nonsense and then, also mercifully, Trump gets the hook. My prediction - he loses in a landslide.

At 9:15 a.m. ET futures are modestly lower and the price of oil per barrel is down. The market is poised to open lower.

The nuts and bolts of the third quarter reports along with the comments of the presidential candidates are being parsed by the investment world. Notice that Tesla is presenting self driving cars for next year. A brave new world is upon us.

CNN: Debate reactions; ECB expectations; Tesla talk by Alanna Petroff
Tesla on Wednesday unveiled new technology that will make its cars fully self-driving. Tesla expects that by the end of 2017, these cars should be able to drive from New York City to Los Angeles without the driver having to do anything.
