summary - Globally averaged concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere reached the symbolic and significant milestone of 400 parts per million for the first time in 2015 and surged again to new records in 2016 on the back of the very powerful El NiƱo event, according to the World Meteorological Organization's annual Greenhouse Gas Bulletin.

190-280 ppm that's the actual average levels up until the late 19th century when the levels began their rise to today's 400+ levels. From the depths of an Ice age to the middle of an inter-glacial warming the spread was only 90 ppm! We are now 120+ ppm over the high end of that average. The last time Earth saw such levels of CO2 were during the geologic era known as the PETM 56 mil. yrs. ago. when temps on earth were 8 degs. C warmer then today and there weren't any ice caps and the oceans were hundreds of feet higher.
Well you summed it up, we are heading for global warming, we are into it now, there's no stopping it. All we can do is attempt to live with it, if we can. But one thing is certain we are into quick change, everything always changes, but now it is a quick change.
