It wasn't too long after this that a Hollywood set designer came up with a military version of this kind of camouflage. Remember, how they painted cargo and military ships during WW2? Many planes were also pained to be camouflaged. In the Pacific theater Navy planes were painted dark blue to blend in to the Ocean if you were looking down at them from above and light blue to blend in with the sky if viewed from below. Uniforms were also camouflaged on both sides. Today, we've moved along in this art. Stealth shapes have been added and some actual invisibility technologies now exist as well.

I like that she's trying to put a little creative visual funkiness back into a fundamentally utilitarian and ugly object like this car. I wonder if this Hollywood set designer found inspiration in her work.
