Why does every photo I see of Ted look ... off? I'm not sure how to describe it; his facial expressions seem vaguely demented.

He obviously has tremendous self-esteem, bolstered by his father's belief that he was sent by god to personally save the republic, and he models his appearance on classic heroes like Joseph McCarthy and Thomas Dewey, but there's just something off about his whole persona, and his voice is like air escaping a balloon.

I deliberately chose a less flattering picture but I would agree, he's creepy. He's also noteworthy because he probably will be around for quite some time. Above all though he has determined that politics is about framing and then drumming the framed message. Framing doesn't allow for nuance or comprehensiveness, as we know, rather it's about disembodied highlights taken out of the context of the total picture. In a way framing is like racism - a racist would determine that they hate someone on skin color, highlighting skin color for example over getting to actually know someone. Maybe framing is a outgrowth of racism...
