The Market On Tuesday

Good morning. It is 21 degrees with some sunshine here in Upstate NY. We are expected to get walloped with snow starting around midnight tonight and lasting through Wednesday. As much as I dislike the snow, this is a really good thing. We need the water and the plants need the root insulation. Maybe I can bust out the cross country skies and try my hand at maneuvering the mean suburban streets before the plows mess it up with salt.

At 8:25 a.m. ET futures are moderately higher and the price of oil per barrel is higher. The market is poised to open higher.

As we know the market has been in correction mode with the DOW dropping nearly 1,000 points since the announcement of more quantitative easing tapering followed by investors pulling out of peripheral economies. The morning article is optimistic but recall that yesterday DOW futures were similarly higher and the market severely tumbled to the close. It's impossible to predict but hopefully calmer minds will prevail.

Shares of KFC-owner Yum! Brands jumped after it reported better-than-expected earnings.
