This drought is not just an ordinary drought. Its a harbinger of things to come for America. The price for burning fossil fuels is starting to ramp up.

California accounts for almost 12 percent of the nation’s agricultural production. As the PBS NewsHour put it, the dry spell “could mean bad news at the grocery store.”

They don't even have the snowfall to replenish the source in the Spring - this is a major breakdown and problem.

As if food isn't prohibitively expensive now. Imagine another 20% increase this year.

It sure is and its just the start as we go through this change. People just don't get it. They don't see the BIG picture here and when major systems, like the food system start to get whacked it will be too late already. Yes, food will get very expensive and it will happen fast. The same is true for the Oceans as they degrade. People don't understand that Mother Nature can turn on a dime and does.
