We're heading into a time of EXPONENTIAL global change and not in a good way. The atmosphere and the ice are unfortunately much more sensitive to the extra CO2we've placed there and the heat it's trapping then even the most extreme models we've been running. The last time ocean temps. were this warm was 125K yrs. ago and it took thousands of years for them to get this warm and it also took thousands of years for the ice to melt and back then sea levels were as much as 9 meters higher than today. Fla. was mostly underwater and was a massive reef. This time it's happening in fast forward in just a few hundred yrs. and this time around there are billions of humans on the planet and they've built a large part of their civilization along the coasts of the global ocean. We are at a the beginning of a time of rapid sea rise not seen by people since 6,000 yrs. ago when the last pulse of sea rise took place. Since that era the Ocean has been relatively stable. That's over were going to see another large pulse of sea level rise over the course of the next few decades and it will rise faster and faster as we go it's not going to be linear.

As scary as Trump is, this is obviously a different beast. Trump is short term, this is as you say, a long painful process and it's speeding up. I found this video to be hard to watch, I wanted to blot it out of mind. We're partying on the Titanic.

Yes, all we are doing is, in essence, shuffling the deck chairs about while listening to the band play. The ship is however going down and how many of the passengers make it is debatable.
