The Market On Wednesday

Good morning. It is 30 degrees and it is sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley, the forecast predicts a partly cloudy day with temperatures in the low 30s. We are heading into the below freezing part of the program, there's still a thin layer of snow on most of the lawns. It's looking like Winter. Well, yours truly made a delicious gluten-free lasagna yesterday and it was a hit. I used rice lasagna noodles and most of the usual stuff cheese-wise and sauce-wise but I also threw in some onions, broccoli, and hold onto your hats, bok choy. I finely chopped the bok choy and added it to the ricotta. It was good.

At 9:20 a.m. ET futures are modestly lower and the price of oil per barrel is down. The market is poised to open modestly lower.

The Fed is highly expected to announce a base interest rate hike this afternoon. Could anything be more meaningful to Wall Street - maybe not. Regardless a decent line of credit will be a little more costly.

After the interest rate decision is announced at 2 p.m. ET, market attention will turn to Fed chair Janet Yellen's press conference at 2:30.
