The Market On Tuesday

Good morning. It is a cold 28 degrees and it is sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley. A sunny day with temperatures in the 40s is expected. I like that sunshine. Holy crap the morning news is mind blowing. We see that Turkey shot down a Russian fighter jet. That is going to hurt. What will the retaliation be or has it in fact already started and I don't know about it yet. There's a lot to look at today including Trump's almost terrifying stump speech where he yells, "get him out of here", and says this repeatedly in front of a crowd in a frenzy. That is frightening coming from a "presidential" candidate, this is not good.

At 9:00 a.m. ET futures are significantly lower and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open lower.

It is the downed Russian jet that is having an immediate effects on global indexes. Hang onto your hats. The second reading of the US GDP shows that the third quarter economy grew at a slightly better pace than originally reported. Also notice that the Saudis are getting a lot of heat from the rest of OPEC surrounding the oil glut. The Saudis are promising change but this is taken with a grain of salt because they have said the exact same thing in the recent past.

CNN: Stocks: Six things to know before the open
A Russian warplane crashed on the Syrian side of the Turkey-Syria border on Tuesday, amid heightened tensions in the region. Russia started airstrikes in Syria last month.

The Turkish lira dipped 0.8% against the dollar on the news, and markets around the world are also dipping.
