About 15 years ago I had a friend who was from Australia. She would tell me that it was so different there because wages were very good. At the time a waitress would get around $25 per hour. America is the land of plenty and also the land of great obstacles, hurdles, road traps, and plain old spite and contempt.
I've watched our beloved country slowly slide into the toilet of greed and indifference since Ronald Reagan was President. Our ruling class really doesn't like us much. A day of reckoning is coming here someday.
