I read this article. I guess I had to expect that we'd eventually be seeing this kind of smug nonsense even in as respected a mag. as SA. This and other articles being spewed around the Internet these days are the right wings final position on AGW. If you boil ( no pun intended) it down it goes something like this. Ok, you guys are right about the science of Global Warming. So? So what really do you expect us ( the real power on Earth, the OIL companies) to do about it. Get over it, move on, adapt or die. Why? Because, we aren't about to change a thing or lose a dime trying to stop this from happening. It's as arrogant and in your face as can be. They're basically now saying, we don't care even if your right. It's as many of us always suspected, this has always been about MONEY nothing else. These are criminals and unapologetic ones at that.

GK, we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Part of the result of the great recession is a new commitment to big oil. Just look at how the stock market has risen, oil is responsible for a good part of that and we both know that. Nothing in the last century has been more profitable for more people than oil. Ask people what they are willing to trade off, their investment and retirement accounts or the environment, and everybody picks investments. Even people I know that are very responsible and very concerned about global warming, know very well that they are invested in oil, like everyone is, and won't be divesting. People make a simple choice - economy or global warming. The choice has been made - we are getting economy and we are going to pay for that choice many times over.
