Eight US states have no laws on the books that prevent health insurance companies from using domestic violence as a pre-existing condition and consequently deny medical cost reimbursement in such a case.
This is as wrong as it gets.

The states are Idaho, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota and Wyoming.
"It infuriates me an insurance executive can sit in his safe world and decide how to make money," Murray said (D-Washington). "For them it's all about the bottom line. Abused women don't have a voice."
