Iranian Control

Yesterday Obama was talking about how either candidate in the Iranian election was going to be roughly the same from the point of view of continuing with policies that the US abhors. That would be the pursuit of nuclear weapons and support for terrorists.

Still we hate to see repression of the type that is clearly evident in Iran. If the closest thing to democracy in Iran is selecting ultra conservative A or ultra conservative B then let it happen. Certainly there is an area of nuance there that needs to be amplified.

State suppression, its a bad thing.

CNN: Iran military targets Web as protests go on
...Iran's Revolutionary Guard corps said Wednesday it will pursue legal action against Web sites that it said were inciting people to riot.

Authorities in Tehran hauled dozens of protesters to jail Tuesday, banned international journalists from filming the rallies and blocked access to social networking sites, such as Twitter and Facebook.

Iran is what happens when the religious/political crowd gets control. It's an abject lesson for the rest of us. Once unhinged from reason society descends into the darkness. We had 8 yrs. of it here in a slighly milder form. These creatures are just waiting to get us by the throat again. Sara Palin and her herd of rt. wing Christofascists religious morons are in the wings. Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom from this bunch.
