Confidence Up

If there is one bit of news that will push the market up today, this is it.

This is big.

"Consumer confidence" is back with a vengeance. Of course the millions laid off don't make the cut but hopefully in time job creation will resume

Reuters: Consumer sentiment soars as confidence returns
The Reuters/University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers said its final index of confidence climbed to 65.1 in April from 57.3 in March. That was the highest since September 2008 and the biggest one-month increase since October 2006.

Any good news is still good news. We'll take it, speaking for the millions without jobs today. I still would like to know where the new jobs Obama and others are talking about? As I see it, almost everything that is of any substance GREEN wise( like windmills, solar panels, insulation. green windows , green electronics etc.) can be manufactured in China or India for pennies, so u can bet that's where it will be made. So, not many jobs there. maybe a few installing this stuff once, and few maintaining it. But not millions and millions that's for sure. Maybe, when he means Green he means like mowing lawns or picking strawberries? Sorry, for the pessimism here, but I just don't see it, yet.

OK I just bought a stimulus tax refund replacement window from a joint called "Modern View Windows." They make a super insulated krypton filled efficient window right here in upstate NY somewhere, or so I am told. This window totally rocks. I know because I have installed a few in the old house and they kept the place warm in the winter. Just saying, in this case, made in the USA.

Good for u!! We need to put heavy tariffs on all Green stuff at first to allow a Nat'l Industry to take root, or else it will be drowned by cheap imports. In this case we need the jobs as much as the green stuff and if all need to pay a few more bucks for it to say made in USA so be it. Time to protect OUR jobs and let China protect itself. For to long we've allowed the Pols to sell us out under the BS phrase Free trade. Easy for them to say since their jobs can't be exported to China or India. It's called politics because it means poly - many ticks ( blood sucking vermin) for good reason.
