I don't know what to say. When I was in college I had dorm roommates who thought Nixon was the smartest thing since Einstein. They would hear his speeches ripe with manipulations of all sorts and just blush in admiration. They went on to become lawyers. I didn't see them when Nixon came tumbling down but just like these guys with Bush, they just dust themselves off, blame the liberal media or whatever they want to blame, and persevere. Success in politics is essentially tied to the art of the blame, never admit failure, just inflate the blame and make it stick.
