Right Off The Bat

The Obama administration will go into action as soon as the oath of office is taken.

They will act on a series of Executive orders one of which may very well be the closing of Gitmo. This could happen within the first few days in office.

I thought the entire legal structure that devised a category called "enemy combatant" and the opening of the prison on Cuba, the entire thing from management down to mundane details, it was all a blight on America. This was a way to enact revenge. I suspect revenge is not justice. It might feel good initially but in the long run it harms the people undertaking the revenge.

The early Obama orders are likely to range from the mundane to the profound – from routine bureaucratic proclamations about continuity of government, to a declaration calling to begin the closing of the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
