Past experience would indicate that this is a shaky period. The Palestinians are no doubt in very rough shape and basic humanitarian assistance for them is essential.
The world crosses its collective fingers and hopes peace can now prevail.
Reuters: Hamas announces ceasefire after Israel declares truce
Hamas said on Sunday it would cease fire immediately along with other militant groups in the Gaza Strip and give Israel, which already declared a unilateral truce, a week to pull its troops out of the territory.

Israel made it's pt. to Hamas and it's allies here. You want War this is how it looks, not a one sided situation where u fire missiles and mortars and send suicide bombers at us and we do little or nothing. ( People yelp about the Israeli blockade for some reason? Your @ War and your supposed to supply your enemy with food, water, electricity, medical supplies and allow them to bring in fresh weapons also?) This is what Hamas was complaining about and saying made it ok for them to fire missiles day and night. Well, I guess that isn't going to work is it? But, I can almost understand their thinking. they must be saying to themselves why do these Jews let us get away with this so we'll just ask for more and fire bigger and bigger and more and more missiles. Well, Israel has now shown Hamas what they can expect if they keep it up. Yes, it's ugly but such is war Sande and screw what the rest of the world thinks. The rest of the world doesn't live next to people like Hamas do they? the rest of the world would have never put up with this BS and waited yrs. to react as Israel did.
Its still the same problem, how to reason with a fundamentalist way of thinking, its very hard to convince anyone who has all the answers figured out. Hamas is wrong to fire missiles into Israel and Israel has to defend its population, I think people get this.
The thing keeps going to this fight to the death level, its completely intractable, very frustrating. Somebody has to come along who knows how to create peace there, they haven't appeared yet though.
