Many changes have occurred in the US since 9-11.

The United States invaded Afghanistan and deposed the Taliban for supporting al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Sounds familiar except:

From the BBC, Taleban 'warned US of huge attack'.

So here's the problem, the Taleban were the "bad" guys because they supported al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden. Yet, according to this article a Taleban aide Wakil Ahmad Muttawakil "...was sent to warn American diplomats and the United Nations that Osama bin Laden was due to launch a huge attack on American soil."

Here is how one US official quoted in the article responded to the warning: "We were hearing a lot of that kind of stuff..."

I realize there are many problems with tacitly believing all that we hear from the media and from the government, but this is a mind stretch, it puts a little kink in the chain of continuity of policy or perhaps a better term is American mythology.
