Bleak. Chris is the Grim reaper. Life is about Hope Chris without it we might as well all just shoot ourselves and get it over with. Sir. I would like to pt. out to you as a species we lived through Ice ages, sea rise and fall, many super volcanic eruptions and meteor strikes. There are now 7 bil. of us and we have very advanced technology that we lacked the last time we went through a big change. Will all of us make it through, NO, but humanity will.
Yes, he is bleak. But he also has interesting information and an interesting view point. We know this. So I personally try to separate the two - the information and the bleakness. To critique him I would say that he needs to spend time talking about how to positively work together. My criticism for Hedges and a number of writers like him including a few idiots that I know, is this. If you're going to offer such a bleak overview then you had better offer something to balance it. Because if you have a megaphone of any kind, you risk becoming someone who is responsible for sending vulnerable people in a bad direction and that is on your head. Words matter, the megaphone matters.
