Whose surprised? We've added 2 billion people in that period and over fishing is rampant all over the world. It will only get worse. Eating fish will become something only the rich do in 3 decades from now and then it will be farm raised fish. Wild fish will be rare and endangered. The wild fishing Industry will be gone.
Humanity is consuming itself into extinction. If we lose 50% of Ocean wildlife in the last 40 years how does that work 500 years from now? Will the oceans be dead zones? It's unimaginable.
