The Market On Friday

Good morning. It is 56 degrees and sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley. We are in for a gorgeous day with temperatures in the 70s. Next week looks to be a little cooler, so enjoy it while it's there. The Pope is in NY this morning and shortly he will be addressing the U.N. I watched Pope Francis address Congress on Thursday and I have to admit that as much as I liked it, one has to wonder what type of effect his presence will ultimately have. As the political spectrum is so savagely divided with extremism on the right being the central fundamental problem in this country, you would have to be foolish to think that anything got into those Tea Bag fundamentalist little brains. I like the present description of the right - it is no better than a authoritarian insurgency.

At 8:50 a.m. ET futures are significantly higher and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open higher.

It's been a tough week of Wall Street, perhaps Friday can produce something other than red. The second reading of the second quarter GDP has been revised up to 3.9% growth. That's rather remarkable.

The U.S. government will issue new estimates for second-quarter GDP at 8:30 a.m. ET....
