The Market On Monday

Good morning. It is a crisp 40 degrees and sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley. Fall is really here, the leaves are raining down, and the colors are wonderful. I hope you had a good weekend. I spent the weekend working on this old house. I have to get a wall rebuilt by Friday when the plumber comes to do his thing. I really got a good chunk of work done but there's plenty more to do this week including a materials delivery today. My next vision is living in an apartment where I don't have to do anything!

At 9:00 a.m. ET futures are moderately lower and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open lower.

Well, what can we say, is the correction over? Who knows, but the morning is not looking too strong at all. Notice that the price of oil is up a small amount and oil's recent last few week price decline parallels the correction as it were. As it is third quarter corporate report period maybe the fundamentals of the US economy will start taking a more prominent position.

CNN: Stocks: 4 things to know before the open
Apple, IBM, and Chipotle will report quarterly results at the close.

European markets are all declining in early trading after a slew of major European firms reported disappointing earnings.
