That was a given considering that the Ukraine wasn't an Indie nation again till 1991 after 500 yrs. of being part of Russia. Anyway, I'm not all that surprised considering Putin's a Russian leader very much within the Imperialist tradition most common in Russian history. Considering that Russia is still a very potent nuclear power I'd say he's probably aiming at reconstituting the old Soviet State sans the Muslim south is my guess. If I were a Pole I'd be scared about this.

I have to get up to speed on this, I'm sorely behind the news but I have to agree that Putin certainly looks like the model Russian despot. I hear he's a multibillionaire as well. Power has gone to his head, another madman.
