The Drought

More short term thinking powered by fear and desperation and banks. Unfortunately, my guess is that these fools will beggar thy neighborhood into poverty because of greed. A few will as usual profit hugely and then take their ill gotten gains and leave. They are criminals, but society is too slow in seeing this. Instead, we are focused on stopping people from smoking pot or some stopping some other irrelevant behaviors. When the short term fixes begin to fail and the shit hits the fan then and only then it seems will our Gov't act and even then in ways that will probably only benefit the same crowd causing these droughts and profiting somehow from them.

In truth we're all in a pickle over this thing. Food prices are already out of control and this will in all likelihood make prices higher. I'm bummed cause I like almond butter and it already costs a fortune. I think California produces most of the almonds and it's a high water crop. It's a natural disaster and as you say the charlatans are packing in making a quick buck on drilling and using up all the remaining ground water. Here's what we eventually get - a massive desert, a larger Mohave.
