The Market On Wednesday

Good morning. It is 62 degrees and mostly sunny here in Upstate NY. I don't know how to explain it exactly but all of the components that come together to create the feeling of back to school, flourishing busy activity, and the impending change of weather are all in place. A few months back I was extolling the virtues of breathing exercises for health. I'm still into that and lately I'm reading this book - Tibetan Yoga of Movement: The Art and Practice of Yantra Yoga. It is a rather esoteric book indeed but one tidbit of information that I read in the book which you might ponder goes like this. As we get older many functions of the body tend to degrade a bit as you are well aware of. Well, turns out our ability to get the full benefits of our breath is one of them, we get a little sloppy and incomplete with our breathing, and this is another reason why it's good to spend a few minutes, not long at all, every day doing some type of beneficial breathing exercise. Do it, kick and complain, but do it, and notice how you feel a few months down the road. Long story short, you will feel better in the old bod. You couldn't possibly find a better simple fix, it's not the full equation but a nice piece to the puzzle.

At 8:45 a.m. futures are modestly lower and the price of oil per barrel is down. The market is poised to open lower.

Investors are seeing the writing on the wall as are we. It is only a matter of time before the US starts a war with Syria. We heard the news yesterday with various congressional leaders getting behind Obama, a rallying point as it were. Basically other than being a serious calamity that I am utterly opposed to simply because meddling in the Middle East has no upside whatsoever and innocent people will be in great peril on both sides of the equation, regardless, this will tank world markets. Call it the war correction.

CNN: Stocks: Worried about a strike on Syria
Several key Democrats and Republicans have thrown their support behind Obama's plan in recent days, though a number of hurdles must still be overcome before the U.S. can take military action.

August auto sales will be reported throughout the day. At 2 p.m. ET, the Federal Reserve will release its Beige Book...
