The Market On Thursday

  Good morning. It is 50 degrees and sunny here in Upstate NY. We are in for yet another gorgeous day, it's been several in a row. I have new advice for the morning. It's very simple too. Periodically disconnect yourself from the web, turn the computer off and let it go. Explore all of the other things that are available to you literally at any point during the day. I like the web as much as anyone but I'm learning to leave it alone regularly.

  At 8:25 a.m. ET futures are slightly higher and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open higher except...

  At 8:30 a.m. ET the government releases data on the GDP and data on first time weekly layoffs. This is just moments away from when I am typing and these numbers will definitely influence how the market will open Thursday morning.
