The Market On Thursday

Good morning. It is 63 degrees and overcast here in Upstate NY. Yesterday we experienced the type of day that makes living in this region worth the effort. It was glorious, sunny, breezy, lush, a pre-Fall day at its best. If you get a chance take a peak at the movie posted below. It's all footage from city life in Russia circa 1929. There is a story going on told through the images but beyond that it's fascinating to see how the world has changed in a century.

At 8:20 a.m. E.T. futures are flat and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open slightly higher.

We've had two days of gains in the market. Syria remains in the foreground as we all wonder exactly when it will start raining bombs. Recall that an important metric, job creation in August will come through on Friday as the government releases it's highly anticipated data. Given the recent history of these reports, there will be some new jobs but far less than needed. Today preliminary reports on jobs in August will be announced.

The G-20 summit was meant to focus on the global economy, but the debate over Syria is expected to overshadow the event.

LinkedIn shares are still up more than 100% this year.
