The rhetoric is good. The idea of state guilt and accountability.
The moral authority of the US is weak to nonexistant. But the talk is good, and Obama's firm stance is good. He should never try to follow through on his threats though.
Read Polk's article in the Atlantic. It is very sketchy whether the Assad regime actually did the gassing.
IMO anything that can put off the bombing is good. The keyword for me is anything and the bottom line is no bombing. If removing the splinter of chemical weapons from the presently messy body of Syria forestalls bombing - AOK.
The Russians see a win win here. They come out looking like the peace makers and the west as the bullies. Plus, they probably don't trust Assad with the weapons anyway.
The Russians definitely could use an international makeover in light of their extreme social injustice policies especially as they repress gays and women.
