I see what you mean about his work. It's very Art Noir.

There's isolation and depression in his work but unlike Hopper there's much less context and more focus on the proximal. There's a barren, stark, naked quality to his work. I find it depressing but it is strong and unflinching.

It is everything you say plus. I like happier themes these days. Life is depressing enough @ times and I want my art to make people smile. I know that might sound trite, but maybe it's because I've seen enough trouble already to last a few lifetimes.

GK - Amen to that brother - we've seen trouble galore!

I agree. I am less interested in working on art that is more about suffering. Too many negatives in the world, and if you look at the news regularly like we do, it just gets overwhelming, you have to laugh at it somehow. Some people intentionally stay uniformed because of this reason. I can't do that, I want to be informed.
