Its simple. The crop of Republican AKA Tea Party candidates is so radical and disturbing to even most Republicans that there is only one candidate who can possibly supplant Obama. That is Romney.
Romney is the establishment Republican's candidate. He will get the nomination sure as his name is Mitt. Its a done deal. All this bubble up bubble burst dog and pony show is nothing but made for TV spectacle.
As Maddow so clearly points out, the only one without a bubble (so far) is Santorum. He may very well get his bubble but he is not the establishment GOP candidate, he is the extreme fundamentalist AKA social values conservative candidate. Maybe he gets his bubble and he gets to walk away with the knowledge that he lead this bunch of extreme losers for a week. Maybe not.
