Mall Riot

This happened Monday night at Mall of America (America's largest mall) in Bloomington, Minnesota.

It's pretty chaotic. One of the most difficult things about situations like this is that's hard to control the ebb and flow of a crowd. When there's severe pushing happening in one spot, there's no doubt that waves would start forming, and unfortunately, that means someone would get hurt.

Where were the security personnel? I see nothing. A public place like this (knowing that it’s one of the biggest malls) should be well secured. I feel sorry for the innocent people who just want to shop and have a good time. I just wish that no children were hurt in this commotion.

You’re right about the security personnel, Javier. The mall should make sure there are security staff that consistently patrol different areas of the establishment. Well, the damage has been done. I just hope they were able to solve this case. Seeing this has caused me to become vigilant even when I’m having a good time at the mall.

I want to believe that one of the biggest malls in the country is equipped with security cameras and any related tools that might come in handy in times like this. Just like the riot incident in London a year ago, some of the culprits were captured because they were traced and identified via several cameras that were strategically installed.
