Alcohol Induced Consequence-Free Myopia

The article refers to people who live in the "here and now" without consciously considering the consequences of their actions or words. Technically speaking that is not living in the "here and now", as living in the here and now would include an understanding of interdependence. That understanding would also include cause and result, that there are consequences for one's actions.

The mean drunk has no use for cause and result. They are not living in the here and now, they are living in a massively closed-off self-induced reality, and nobody else is included in that reality.
