The bottom line is simple, the businesses want people to turn out and spend money. The other bottom line is also simple, you risk your neck but you may not be aware of the danger because of the repressed information.

This is precisely why "small businesses" are going under in record nos. in this country. The Elite of the Public sector have absolutely no problem over regulating and blaming "small biz" for everything and anything, of course while all the while padding their own bank accounts with lots of Corp. cash.
How is the problem solved? What needs to happen here to reduce violence? I can see that blaming the business is not correct, on the other hand it is small businesses in this community that try to repress news about violence. They have some culpability here. Its a lose lose situation.
Are u saying bars and restaurants are attractive nuisances? Absurd. Why not just say people are violent because the sun sets in the east. Blaming these businesses is just not wanting to deal with the real causes of the problem. Since nobody wants to do that then someone else has to be scapegoated and in this case the bars are an easy target.
No, you miss my point. Bars are fine. What's not fine is when these businesses/bars actively try to suppress information about violence that takes place within or near the bar. Would you go to a place if you knew that at least one person was mugged in or around the bar each day? You might have second thoughts about going if you knew, if you didn't know that information then we are not afraid.
