Yes but, "The fully enlightened earth radiates disaster triumphant"
--Theodor Adorno
Knowing about the universe and the Pale Blue Dot...
It makes us nervous and we all sign up for fundamentalist religions.
(hugs)
Nice, Adorno's quote seems right in line with Sagan.
Not everyone signs up for fundamentalism. I like to think you haven't, nor have I. Being nervous isn't necessarily a bad state, it could be the prelude to something more open and wiser.
The Hubble pictures are comforting. The Universe is so beautiful and so grand it puts me at peace knowing we are all part of something so splendid.
I like your responses. Yes Jim, I wasn't talking about me, just the ambient anxiety and a reference to a theory maybe explaining the weird, unexpected turning toward god.
And I like the idea of taking comfort from the beauty, Glenn.
