I'm sure there are lots of smart engineers with solutions to this but it's not likely anyone in power will ever allow their ideas to be seen. This young lady somehow crashed through the barriers and got their attention. What are the chances they'll try her idea? Got me? I'm not sure you'd be able to get another to stay inside the pipe because of the enormous pressure the gas and oil would be subjecting it to. It's hard to fix a garden hose if you've ever tried because of the pressure of the water on the insert. Anyway, at least she's thinking outside the box.
It part of the leak culture as it were. There's an entire movement with people raising money to help clean animals, people trying to figure out how to stop the damn leak, it shows concern and that there is good intention with is important but we need a fix. I don't know how its going to happen but it has to happen.
Look how far we've feel since being able to put a man on the moon and send probes to land on Mars and Hubble etc. Now we can't even plug a friggin hole ?
