Health Care Battle Is More Even

Unlike 1993, when Bill Clinton had no coalitions with real clout backing his proposals in health care, Obama is much better positioned.

We all know that health care costs are one of the biggest dampers on the business community and forget about small business, not many can afford it.

So Obama is the agent of change and he will bring forth universal health care. This time around its at least got a shot.

NYT: Liberal Groups Are Flexing New Muscle in Lobby Wars
The National Coalition on Health Care was formed in 1990 to push for universal health care and is supported by a mix of business, labor, religious and health care organizations.

“This is no longer going to be Barack Obama standing by himself getting pilloried by the special interests with no one pushing back..."

For the moment, Mr. Obama has set out principles for creating a near-universal health care system, setting aside $630 billion in his new budget toward that purpose.

God knows America needs it. I have a friend that's husband is a surgeon and they're very wealthy. I like her but talking with her yesterday she laid out to me why we need to reign these folks in. She went on and on about how she and her husband were putting all their money into foreign companies and gold. That they felt Obama was just stealing their wealth and giving it to "people" who don't deserve it. When I asked her about single payer she said u mean communism? I said no, I wouldn't exactly call Canada or Sweden, England etc communist states. She countered by saying tyey were all failed states. What? These folks live in their own private Idaho. O has to come down hard on the Reagan/Bu$h era millionaires. Screw em. They now own over 30% of all the wealth in this country. In 1979 that was 17%.
