He essentially paraphrased the old Chinese saying - optimistic in times of famine and pessimistic in times of plenty.
Everything is relative.
We are dazed by the plunge in the markets and the severity of the layoffs. We almost expect it.
So clearly Obama has made a calculated change in the tone of his approach to the economy. He is borrowing from the George Bush - Dick Cheney its all getting better in Iraq routine.
We are not so convinced.

Easy for him to say he doesn't need to worry where his dinner is coming from in a few months.
Hopefully these are just some rookie mistakes.
