Here's the really dangerous vector we need to consider after all the Russian interference. If they get into these machines kiss your democracy adios. Go BACK to paper ballots like Canada and India. No networks no black box machines. Simple paper ballots that can be verified. There might be abuses even then but it has to be done one ballot box at a time and any attempt on a mass scale would require a totalitarian State like the ex-Soviet Union or China to pull off. Computerized voting especially where the machines are networked is much easier to scam.

My understanding is that this has been a problem for some time. I simply don't know what to make of it and I have to place my faith in the people who run elections to be honorable and monitor the system carefully. More than likely many are like that and a few are more careless and partisan in how they handle their responsibilities.
