I think everyone is starting to get the feeling were approaching a very special moment in human history the discovery of life outside the Earth. It would be an extremely important discovery that would reconnect us with the Universe in a way only finding other life can. It would mark a threshold in our evolution.
Yes, it's probably both our wishes to be able to witness that in our lifetime.
