They don't need the satellites, I can tell them at least along the So. Jersey coast it's definitely accelerating. Areas that never flooded are now flooding on sunny days a few times during the yr. Roads are being closed when they were never flooded before and the rise is now visible in the back bays to anyone older then 50 who is a resident. These same observations are being made all along the East and Gulf coasts. In the last four yrs. NASA and NOAA scientists have estimated up to 1 trillion tons of ice has melted off of the Greenland ice pack. All of this water causes sea level rise because it's ice that was on land. The melting of sea ice doesn't raise sea level, it has another pernicious feedback into the climate system. Add to the Greenland melt the one happening in Antarctica's Western ice pack which is also seeing accelerating melting and a red flag is now flying for all coastal areas and low lying islands States. The last significant sea rise was 3K yrs. ago and before that 6K years ago from the end of the last Ice Age 20K yrs. ago the Ocean rose 300+ feet! There is another 300 ft. of ice water on land to melt and here's the really scary rub, that ice once it really starts to melt can melt in a very fast and exponential manner. If you don't believe empty your all your ice trays into your sink and watch how it melts.

So many things are changing - sea level rise, temperatures, extreme weather, diseases, animal and insect migrations and extinctions, food supply, potable water - it's endless. But the one thing that seems to be the most adversely affected is the basic common sense of human beings.
