Humans have been altering the landscape for thousands of yrs. and then 200 yrs. ago started Industrialization and the massive burning of Fossil energy sources. This phase of Industrialization is coming to a halt and the sooner the better. Replacing Fossil energy will be non-Fossil fuesl like Methane derived energy from sunlight water and catalysts even microbes. Also, solar cells etc. with back up storage and wind with the same. It all can't happen fast enough. Then the big job of removing the 200 yr. overage of CO2 and other GHGS from the atmosphere. This might happen , but unfortunately with the changes already taking place that might not even be enough. One thing is for sure we've made a God awful mess of the planet so we could bootstrap our way to where we are and we have to do a much better job going forward.

The Earth is changing fast and it's going to be a different environment over the next who knows how many decades and centuries. Getting the excess CO2 out is critical. I saw a good NYT map of how 100 degree plus days will be moving into the country by 2100. There's going to be migrations, people will be moving up here, up north.
