Trump as a WHITE knight rising to the rescue to SLAY BIG bad Gov't and it's Dragons. It's a classic Right wing Fantasy. The left has it's own White Knight this year with Sir Bernie riding to the rescue and slaying the Dragon of Big Bizness in a similar manner. Bernie uses an emotional appeal similar to the Donald's and his crowds love it as well. These guys are to some extent the flip sides of the same anger and distress out here. The American public sees the American dream slipping further and further out of reach. On the one hand you have Bernie saying vote for me and I'll get a lasso around the Dragon of Big bizness and get it back into its cage ( Big Gov't) so it works for all of us not just the 1% and you have Donald saying the exact same thing about BIG Gov't. Sadly both Big Gov't and Big Bizness these days are just the flip-side of the same coin. That's how Corporatism / fascism works. So , in reality neither guy is telling us the whole story. Unless, you separate out the two parts of this beast and its going to be extremely hard to do now, no one person even a powerful President will be able to reform the mess DC has become. We now have a Revolving door Gov't where the best jobs in both the Corp. and Big Gov't world's go to the politically connected. Crony Capitalism reigns openly and everything and everyone is for sale to the highest bidder these days.
Where did the meme come from that government is too big and that it needs to be eliminated? It's fundamentally an absurd idea. Realistically speaking we all want to see efficiency in any bureaucracy, other than that how does society exist without a government. It's always struck me that this general undefined and ill defined attack on big government is once again a distraction from corporatists who want no regulations, don't want to pay taxes, could care less about entitlements, and would be perfectly happy if society imploded many degrees further - as we know. Yet the details and the reasons always remain in the background so that we have this slogan that billionaires understand in one way and that blue collar people understand to mean in another usually about taking welfare away from black people allegedly driving around in Cadillacs on their dime.
