The rapid melting of many of Greenland's major glaciers and the destabilizing of it's huge ice shelf is now underway! Greenland alone if it melted entirely could add something like 20 meters of sea rise by itself. More problematic is the rapid destabilization of the massive west Antarctic Ice sheet, if it melts and slides into the pacific were looking at 160 feet of possible sea level rise. of course for both areas to melt down will take hundreds of yrs. In the mean time though possible rapid sea rise is a possibility since the melting is now happening in a non-linear fashion.

When I saw this article I went woa, why isn't this front page? Yes I'm reading about the sea rise as well. Where I live now was at one time a giant lake. Why would that not return in light of a rapid sea rise. What we are seeing now are isolated stories a lot of them in areas of the world where people don't really care what happens there. Truth be told right.
