The Market On Wednesday

Good morning. It is a very cold 10 degrees with sunshine here in the Upper Hudson Valley. There's no way out of it, we are in the dead of Winter. A friend told me yesterday - "There's a reason why they call it the dead of Winter, and this is it." The next week is forecast to be more of the same - very cold and more snow. Actually two times yesterday and for the first time this season, two separate individuals said to me - "Spring is right around the corner." Otherwise it seems that big change is in the air, Jon Stewart is leaving the Daily Show and man are we going to miss him.

At 8:15 a.m. ET futures are moderately lower and the price of oil is down. The market is poised to open lower.

The economic mess in Greece and how that mess will or won't be resolved in a timely manner is pressing on the market this morning. We must assume that corporate reports are coming in strong because the DOW remains in the high 17K range. Against all this oil continues to be priced on the cheap and when I just looked it had dipped below $50 a barrel once again.

CNN: Stocks: 4 things to know before the open
"Markets are priced for some kind of stop-gap deal which allows the European Central Bank to continue financing Greek banks and lets talks continue..."
